President’s Letter 2018/2019 Session

Greetings !

During my second year as president I am looking forward to welcoming members and their friends to the new session commencing at the end of September. Being a relative newcomer to the association I really enjoy meeting you all. What a great group of people from so many different backgrounds, with experience in so many fields, and to get to talk to you is the best part of being a member. I have a lot of friends in the association and that means a great deal to me. I wish I could spend a bit more time with you, possibly with some more socialising in the summer. That would be most welcome.

I ask members to consider coming along to the events and to bring friends or relatives. They are under no obligation to join the association but will be guaranteed a warm welcome, hopefully a laugh, and a pint or two after the lecture or visit, if they wish to partake. Any help with the association is welcome, along with suggestions on ways to improve, change or update the association as it’s ‘your association’. If anyone would like to give a short talk about anything of interest then we would very much like to hear from you. Please feel free to speak with any of the council members, or drop us a line using the Contact pages here on the website.

I am now working at SKF at the sealing solutions division as a CNC machinist and programmer in the rather specialised area of machining plastics and rubbers. It’s a very forward thinking company with a world wide ethos, and actually cares about the workforce, as opposed my previous company, where you could be asked on a daily basis “What have you done today ?” Funny that production went up by 25% !

I send my best regards to all members and look forward to seeing you at the forthcoming events.

John Aldersley – President
