8. Annual Church Service. Nothing to report.

9. Current Programme. Mr. Toulson read out the confirmed calendar of events and advised that the programme was partly complete except for three events still being investigated. Mr. Shergill reported that a visit to a Turbo Charger plant in October could not be confirmed. Mr. Murray said he might be able to fill that date with a visit, but due to a lack of response it was looking doubtful. Mr. Toulson asked Mr. Aldersley if he could ask Paul Beaumont if he would be willing to give another talk on that date. Mr. Beaumont had said previously that he had another ‘Jowett’ lecture available and would be pleased to come back again. Mr. Bentley said he would contact Noel Coates hopefully to confirm a lecture on railways for 23rd May 2019. Mr. Toulson reported that after two emails and three telephone calls he had been unable so far to contact anyone who would be able to make a decision regarding a visit in February 2019 to Allied Glass in Leeds. Mr. Toulson intends to pursue this potential visit until an answer is received. Mr. Hegarty said that due to the difficulty in arranging visits he would be pleased to have lectures in place of visits. Mr. Rogers advised that he had booked the REA Meeting Hall for all dates on the calendar. Mr. Town advised that houses had been built on spare land next to the Meeting Hall and that this may make parking at the venue more difficult in future.

10. Next Session. Covered in the previous item.

11. Student Award Scheme. Mr. Aldersley asked if he should pursue arranging an award with ‘Appris’ in Bradford. This was agreed. Mr. Roper advised that he was currently working in a company involved in the manufacture of model engines. He had come across a young engineer from Manchester who was working alongside him and who was studying Mechanical Engineering. He wondered whether it might be considered for the association to sponsor such a student. Mr. Hegarty commented that considering he is from Manchester, he might not be suitable for association membership long term. Mr. Aldersley asked if ‘Appris’ should be continued to be offered corporate membership. This was agreed. He said he would contact Dean at ‘Appris’ in order to maintain a relationship. Mr. Toulson asked if anyone had knowledge of the training centre currently operating from the premises of Braime Pressings in Hunslet. Mr. Murray said that Nick Crowther a former colleague of his from ‘Meltog’ was involved in the training group.

12. Website. Mr. Toulson advised that he would soon be updating the website with events and some posts for members to read at the start of the new session. He requested a DVD of photographs of the Golf Dinner and Mr. Shergill said he would send a disk in the post. Mr. Toulson advised that he was still working on an article about an old Leeds company, Scriven Tools, from which there were association members in the past. Mr. Roper had some considerable knowledge of the company and offered to provide some information for the article at a later date.

13. Golf. Mr. Stacey advised that he had forwarded a copy of the Golf Tournament Report to Mr. Toulson, who said he would post this on the website along with photographs. Mr. Stacey reported that the accounts for the tournament had balanced to zero and that he still held an excess of £114.56 to carry over for the following year. He advised that Cobble Hall in Leeds was the proposed venue for the 2019 Golf Tournament.

14. Annual Dinner. Nothing to report.

Any other Business. Mr. Aldersley mentioned an acquaintance who was involved in the online video platform ‘You Tube’ who might be able to post video footage of our events, at no cost to the association. He asked Mr. Kingswell if his ‘Drone Footage’ might be one example of video that could be posted to the site. Further investigations will be made.
