Summer Solstice Event – Thursday 19th June 2025 at 6.15 pm for a 6.30 pm start.
For many years we have arranged a social evening to coincide with the Summer Solstice. It has often taken the form of a short walk in a pleasant location to be followed by supper at a nearby hostelry.
In the past we have strolled around Farnley Park, Ogden Water, Temple Newsam, Newmillerdam and Shipley Glen to name but a few. It’s a chance to catch up with friends and acquaintances during the summer recess and have a bit of gentle exercise and a convivial supper.
Here are Malcolm’s details of the event this year:-
After the success of last year’s Solstice event at Heckmondwike Petanque Club in Algernon Firth Park WF16 0FG, I’ve arranged for us to have another go at ‘Boules’. It will be on Thursday 19th June we will be meeting at 6.15pm for a 6.30 pm start, playing 3 games.
But you can join us at any time and we will fit you in to play the next game.
This will be followed by a pie & peas supper, but with a change in policy there will be a charge for supper. The venue, all being well, will be at ‘The Marsh’ in Cleckheaton. (28 Bradford Rd, Marsh, Cleckheaton BD19 5BJ)
So all you have to do is limber up your arms, come along, and all equipment is provided and fingers crossed we have fine weather.
It would be nice to see a few of our younger members joining us and it may spark an interest in Petanque !
So please advise me about your attendance (and whether you are joining us for supper) before the 1st June…..
