Leeds Association of Engineers 2025/2026 Session AGM & Talk

During the last session of council meetings it was decided to align the association’s financial year end with the Annual General Meeting, whereas previously they had been separated by several months. As such from now on we will hold the AGM at the beginning of the new session as the opening event….

We will hold our 2025/2026 Session Annual General Meeting on Thursday 25th September at 7.15 for 7.30 pm. It will be followed by an address by our president John Aldersley. (See below.)

The meeting will be held at our usual venue in Morley:-   Morley Lecture Venue

The AGM is usually brief and members will have the opportunity to raise questions and make points.

Here is a link to a PDF of the Minutes of the previous AGM:-   2025 AGM & Lecture

During the AGM you will be able to vote for your President and Vice-President of the association and for your council members. The accounts will be presented by the Treasurer for approval by the membership. Only association members may cast votes during the AGM, but guests are always welcome to attend the AGM and lecture.

Members, please come along to join in the AGM and enjoy John’s talk afterwards.

Here is John’s summary of his talk:-

“This will be a continuation talk to follow on from my apprenticeship lecture. The title is “Next Stop the Job Centre” strangely enough Wetherby Engineering was just across the road, but it took about a year to get there. I will be looking at what a small sub-contract shop in Bradford did, why it was called Wetherby Engineering, who worked there, sharing with the association what great engineers they were. Looking at the companies we did work for, the link with Thomas Broadbent, all the lovely jobs that nobody would do, or couldn’t.”

(John told me it will be a riveting talk, with the usual funny events that went on, including the “Wally of the Week Award”, with fisty cuffs in the car park !   Ed.)

As is the custom we will retire to a local hostelry for refreshments after the meeting……
