Mr. Kibler’s email requested that members pay their annual subscriptions by bank transfer in preference to cheques because of his difficulty in visiting the bank on week days. Mr. Stacey commented that the Golf account for 2017 was balanced to zero leaving a small surplus to carry over for next year (2018).

6. Correspondence. Mr. Toulson had received a letter from the family of Les Holmes one of our members who passed away recently. They asked that we make a correction to the eulogy on our website. This stated that Les’s first wife died of cancer, but in fact she died of a heart condition.
Mr. Murray said he received a letter from Mr. Lee asking that a receipt be posted to him for his subscription.

7. Membership. Mr. Town hopes to have 4 new members for us very shortly. Mr Stacey has recruited another member Mr. Graham Bond, not an engineer himself but a former accountant. His three sons all work in engineering, Mr. Hegarty seconded the proposal and the proposal was accepted with a show of hands.

8. Current Programme. Mr. Toulson handed out a calendar for the next session, this currently has four gaps to fill. In spite of a very determined effort by Mr. Aldersley who has been emailing and has written seven letters to people / organisations requesting either visits or lectures. This included a letter to the managing director of 600 lathes who Mr. Yates had spoken to by chance at an exhibition and had agreed to us visit. Mr. Yates said he would give the man a telephone call and gently remind him of this. If he is successful, someone should follow this up and confirm a date. Mr Toulson said he had been in contact with AMRC Sheffield but they have nothing happening in the evenings. Mr Rogers stated that the Scandura Hall in Cleckheaton is getting quite busy leading up to Christmas, if we want our lectures there we should make our bookings now whilst there is still availability, it was agreed that we should make bookings to cover this period. Mr. Murray has written to Alan Braime twice hoping to get him to commit to giving a lecture but has had no response. Mr. Stacey will speak to Gerry Allen to see if he can give us potential contacts for factory visits / lectures.

9. Next Session. Nothing to report.

10. Website. Everything is going well, Mr. Shergill has sent photographs to Mr. Toulson from the golf tournament. New events will be added shortly when the dates are confirmed, for instance the church service and annual dinner.

11. Golf. Mr Aldersley commented that the golf tournament had been a really good day. Mr. Shergill won this year’s event which was held at Scarcroft Golf Club, we were lucky in that the tournament was played in good weather. This year Mitchell Fox only brought eight competitors. This is significantly lower than previous years. Gerry Allen has row retired but will get one of his former colleagues to organise delegates from Mitchell Fox to attend; this is likely to be Steve Richards. Mr. Stacey will meet up with people at Mitchell Fox to check that our golf tournament is still something that is of interest to them going forward. Mr. Stacey commented that the golf day has been fixed at £56 for the last 4 years, but if numbers fall then the price will have to increase. He said that next year’s tournament will be the 80th time that competitors play for the Braime trophy, he is hopeful that this will be played at Garforth Golf Club.

12. Annual Dinner. Was not discussed.

.
Any other Business. Having no other business Mr. Aldersley closed the meeting.
