2021 Annual General Meeting
Following the successful implementation of the Zoom online meeting system council have decided to hold our Annual General Meeting online on Thursday 29th April at 7.30 pm. We were unable to hold the AGM last year due to the Covid situation and we hope that as many members as possible will be able to join the online AGM this year. (For details of how to join the meeting – see below.)
As there was no AGM in 2020 the previous AGM minutes are from 2019. You can access these minutes to view and print using this link:- 2019 AGM Minutes
To tempt you to join the AGM we have our very own John Aldersley – Immediate Past President, to entertain you with a few stories and anecdotes following the AGM.
John has entertained us previously at our annual dinners and he will present some slides to accompany his talk entitled “I’ve never heard of Wetherby Engineering and it’s where, Bradford?” Don’t miss it !
As in previous years we will first run through the short AGM agenda during which the treasurer will present the accounts for approval by the members. In addition we will take the opportunity to elect and re-elect members of council to serve for the next session. Please note that only members will be allowed to vote but their guests will be allowed to join the meeting. We hope to vote with a show of hands on screen in a similar way to when we used to meet in person, so please ensure we can see you clearly on the Zoom screen.
Details of how to join the lecture are here…
For this meeting you do not need to download the Zoom software onto your device.
The online AGM is open to all members of the Leeds Association of Engineers and their guests. The meeting will be hosted by Andrew Kibler who will email in advance all members who are registered with us. The email will contain a ‘hyperlink’, that’s the one beginning with ‘https’. Clicking this link on your devices will open your browser and take you to the Zoom page, where you wait a few moments to join the online meeting. For those unfamiliar with Zoom here is a tip to aid your viewing:-
Once you have joined the meeting move your cursor to the top right hand corner of the window to reveal a 9 dot symbol and a drop down menu entitled ‘View’. You can then select either ‘Speaker View’ to be able to see only our guest speaker, or if you want to see other members of the audience in a grid format, select ‘Gallery View’. You can also select ‘Full Screen’ and swap back and forth as you wish.
Also, for those joining the meeting on either a phone, iPad or tablet please can you rename your window (if you know how!) with your own name as often the device displays, for example, ‘Samsung S20’ or ‘iPad’. Clicking on the name should allow you to ‘rename’ and insert your name in the field. For the best viewing experience we recommend you use either a PC, Mac or Laptop with a large screen if available.
Please join the meeting from around 7.10 pm onwards in order to have everyone online in good time.
We politely request that members and guests remain with their microphones muted so as not to interfere with the speakers. As with previous AGMs members will have the opportunity to ask questions through the host, Andrew Kibler. John Aldersley may also be willing to answer any questions after his lecture. Thank you….
