British Steel’s Private Industrial Railway

This evening we welcome Bernard Wordsworth, Rail Operations Manager, British Steel.

British Steel has a long history of iron and steel making and relies heavily on the movement of raw material, molten iron and semi finished steel around its site to stay operational.

Bernard will describe the processes and challenges faced by the Internal Logistics department in moving around 10 million Tonnes of material around on British Steel’s own private industrial railway network. It is an operation that continues 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

As usual after the meeting we will retire to a local hostelry for refreshments and further discussion…

Join us for an interesting evening based around one of our favourite topics !
