Summer Solstice Walk

With this year’s European elections on the Thursday it has been decided to hold the walk the day after.
This year the walk will take place at St Aidan’s Country Park. It’s a stroll around the lake followed by refreshments and possibly a quiz. The refreshment destination has not been finalized yet so anyone joining us needs to book by Tuesday 21st by phoning 01924 440097 or emailing theigloo@talk21.com so we can advise the numbers.
Directions from Leeds, take the A63 to Selby. Passing Strikes Garden Centre on your right turn right at the next roundabout with the Holiday Inn on your left continue towards Swillington. Passing Rocol turn left at Saint Mary’s Church onto Astley Lane. Continue for approx. two miles as you drop down a hill with Allerton Bywater in the distance you will see a gated entrance on you right (Meeting point). Turn around at this point and parking is on the roadside.

Come along and join us on this now established summer jaunt for some fresh air, good company and maybe a refreshing tipple in a local hostelry afterwards.
Last year your Programme Secretary, Malcolm Murray, organised a splendid evening of light exercise, fresh air and entertainment. We had a walk along the bank of the River Aire and then across the bridge towards the Leeds and Liverpool canal, for a stroll along the towpath. We then met up at The Abbey Inn at Newlay where we enjoyed a Pie and Peas supper. We were in time for the weekly music quiz which most joined in with and had a some fun and laughter….
