Summer Solstice Walk – Thursday 20th June
‘Bingley Five Rise Locks’ – Meet at 7.00 for 7.15 pm
For a few years we have arranged a social evening to coincide with the Summer Solstice (or as close as possible !). It has taken the form of a short walk in a pleasant location to be followed by supper at a nearby hostelry. We have had photo competitions and even a Frisbee throwing contest (which was the cause of quite a bit of hilarity !)
In the past we have strolled around Ogden Water, Temple Newsam, Newmillerdam and Shipley Glen to name but a few. It’s a chance to catch up with friends and acquaintances during the summer recess and have a bit of gentle exercise and a convivial supper.
Please join us for our annual walk, meeting at Bingley Station. The walk is along the canal path and with a bit of luck we may see a barge passing through. The walk will be followed by refreshments at the quirky Camra public house “The Chip & Ern Ale House”
We are looking to arrange a Pie & Peas supper (to be confirmed). We have also invited the Keighley Association of Engineers to join us on the walk and to partake in a competition quiz. Everyone will take part but both Associations will nominate an equal number of their members to compete.
Booking is required for supper by both Association’s Members by the 14th June by emailing: theigloo@talk21.com or phone 01924 440097. Please allow plenty of time to travel as there are roadworks from Bradford.
Directions take the A650 from Bradford to Skipton. The station is signposted from the Bingley bypass. There are various parking areas around the station. The postcode for your Sat-Navs is: BD16 2NA
Come along and join us for a convivial evening with our friends from Keighley… See you there !
