The President and Council are sad to hear of the passing of Peter Ward who died on 1st October 2013. Peter joined the association in 1973 and had been an active member and council member for many years in the roles of Journal Editor (1989-1992), Vice-President (1984-1968) and President (1986-1988). He was Managing Director of Plastona Ltd. in Leeds, which was a company specialising in the production of thermoformed plastic tubs for the yellow fats industry. Plastona was a subsidiary of the Leeds based company John Waddington plc. Peter helped the association with administration by using the typing and other communication skills of his long standing business secretary ‘Dorothy’, who was often mentioned but rarely seen. Association council meetings chaired by Peter were always efficient but convivial and light-hearted, such was his unique style. He will be missed by all those who were acquainted with him. We extend our sincere condolences to Peter’s family and friends.
