7. Membership. Mr. Murray advised us that he had two resignations this month one was Mr. Rhodes who settled one year’s arrears but said he no longer attended our functions so was resigning his membership. The second resignation was Mr. Butler formerly of Kirkstall Forge who was an Honorary Member and is now 93 years old, he said he is now quite frail and felt unable to participate in future events. Mr Yates said he would write to Mr.Butler thanking him for his support over the years. Mr. Murray is still to take Lynne (his wife) out for a thankyou meal on our behalf for all the unpaid work she does in assisting him in preparing circulars, addressing and posting letters etc.

8. Current Programme. Mr. Murray suggested the Marks and Spencer museum might be suitable for the Ladies Evening, Mr. Yates will contact the lady archivist to see what is available. The recent trip to the Micro Brewery at Ossett was enjoyable but quite brief. Mr. Murray said he needs to get the circular out this coming weekend (7th / 8th November).

9. Next Session. Mr Shergill has contacted the company at Low Moor who produce extrusions but unfortunately they do not have a night shift so this rules out a visit. It was suggested we might try get a lecture on the restoration of the Oakwood Clock and that a visit to Leeds Town Hall might be interesting.

10. Website. Everything is working well. Mr. Toulson reported that the photographs of council members has been updated. Mr. Blakeley to get permission from Hunslet Engine Company (his employer) to publish pictures of rebuilt 0-6-0 locomotives taken on test track at Elsecar on our website.

11. Journal. No progress this month. Mr. Bentley said he needs Mr. Yates to write a brief introduction.

12. Golf. Date for the next tournament is on the website.

13. Annual Dinner. Mr. Rogers has everything in hand with the golf club (venue). Mr Kibler has contacted the two ladies who are to sing for our entertainment. He said we might have to move away from our normal format in order to fit the singing into the evening. The singers charge £250 for the evening and of course we will supply them with a meal. We decided not to have a formal table but will still assemble important guests and clap them to their table in the traditional manner at the start of the evening. We have a number of people to invite who have been of service to us in the past, this includes Graham Mallinson and the two gentlemen and their wives from Marton Mills who escorted us on the visit to their factory.

.
Any other Business. Mr Murray said he had taken some cans of beer to Mr. Kingswell and wished him a speedy recovery from his operation. Mr. Yates said it is important that he gets a deputy, he has many things he wants to do on a personal level in the New Year so he will not always be available. Having no other business Mr. Yates closed the meeting.
