He concluded his report by telling us that he intends completing the accounts by the end of October. He advised us that the finances have remained stable.
6. Correspondence. Mr. Murray told us of communication he had with our new member in Australia who has offered to send some articles for publishing on our website. We have been invited to visit a mill in Colne in Lancashire where they have offered to fire up the steam engines but we felt the cost would be prohibitive.
7. Membership. Nothing to report, other than we have still been unable to contact John Kelso. Mr. Murray said that he is due to request subscription payments from the membership. With the cost of postage rising to fifty eight pence for a second class stamp, along with a stamped addressed envelope, the cost is £1.16 per member. He suggested that in the future we ask the members to pay by direct debit, this was agreed by council and Mr. Aldersley said he will raise this point at our next public meeting.
8. Annual Church Service. Not organised yet.
9. Current Programme. It was reported that Mr. Toulson has not been able to reach anyone at Allied Glass in Leeds with the authority to grant us a visit. Mr. Murray has been in contact with Julian Heyworth (Managing Director of Meltog) regarding a factory visit with one of Julian’s contacts but nothing is confirmed yet. We still require to fill two or three spaces in this year’s programme. Mr. Aldersley has spoken to Paul Beaumont of Jowett Car Club. Paul is to give us the lecture in October and has requested that we have a laptop available for him to use.
10. Next Session. Nothing to report.
11. Student Award Scheme. Mr. Aldersley has been in touch with Appris with regards to the student award, Dean, at Appris said he will look for someone to nominate from the new intake.
12. Website. Mr. Toulson has updated the website and everything is working well.
13. Facebook. Mr. Kingswell made a short film at our last lecture meeting with a view to putting something on facebook to promote the association. Mr. Aldersley told us he knows someone who will post the film on you tube for us.
14. Golf. Mr Stacey told us that the golf report and photographs are on the website. We have been very lucky in securing M.A. Ford as a new sponsor and corporate member. Mr. Stacey said it is M.A. Ford’s centenary year in 2019 so he feels sure they will want to promote this. We confirmed that as corporate members any of M. A. Ford’s employees are eligible to win the Braime Trophy. We are hoping to use Cobble Hall again next year. Gerry Allen is happy to carry on supporting Mr. Stacey as meet and greet man.
15. Annual Dinner. Mr. Kibler said that it is too early to organise anything yet, the planned date for the 2019 dinner is the 6th April.
Any other Business. Having no other business Mr. Aldersley closed the meeting.
