The 2025 AGM Membership Report & Statistics…..

LAE 2025 Annual General Meeting

The minutes of the AGM held at our Morley venue on Thursday 24th April 2025 will be published at a later date but in the meantime members might be interested in reading a short report presented by our Membership Secretary Malcolm Murray:-

2024/2025 Annual General Meeting Secretary’s Report

“I would like to start my report my thanking all the council members for attending the monthly meetings and carrying out various tasks.

Special thanks go to John Aldersley, Gordon Toulson, John Bentley & Ian Scholes (for the Journal), Steve Stacey for the Golf Day. Thanks also go to Andrew Kibler for organising the successful 160th dinner. I must mention Ian Blakeley for carrying out the minutes of each council meeting (I couldn’t do it !).

I’m pleased to say that the Association has done really well over the last year with the council members all putting ideas forward and helping to implement a programme, church service, and the golf day etc. because without these events we would not prosper.

We have continued our connection with the Keighley Association and are exchanging programme events and I know some of our members have joined them on occasion. Thanks go to them for attending our 160th dinner.

The Solstice Walk last year was well attended and we have been invited by the Heckmondwike club to have another go, which I hope is supported by the membership.

I am still finding members don’t reply to the circular requests to indicate if they are interested in the events. If not enough interest is shown early the events will not be arranged. So, I would like to remind the membership it is your Association and we the council put a lot of effort in for you all, so please support us and advise your interest or by booking. As well as paying your subscriptions, and with email being the main option for correspondence, it’s important to keep us informed. Even if you wish to resign.

Finally, If any member has an idea for a talk or a visit don’t hesitate to get in touch and we will follow up the suggestion and try to get it arranged.

I hope we continue to get your support and it’s really good for the future of the Association with the increase and interest shown by apprentices in joining our Association. On the positive side we have four student members on council who have rallied round and found new student members. Thanks to John Aldersley for getting the ball rolling. With the world changing so fast it’s good we now realise we have to add value by manufacturing things on time and at home.

Thank You.

Malcolm Murray – Membership Secretary.”

I am sure I speak on behalf of the President, council and membership that we extend our thanks to Malcolm who has put in a great deal of work, along with his wife Lynne, in arranging events and keeping the association membership records up to date for many years. Thank you.
