3. Minutes of the Previous Meeting, dated 2nd November 2017 were approved & signed.
4. Matters Arising. None.
5. Treasurers Report. Mr. Kibler reported the following transactions :-

15-11-17 – Cheque 0000000552 (Meeting room hire) – £120.00
Credits
04- 12-17 – Credit 569785 (Subscriptions) – £600.00
The balance for both the current account and the savings account were given at the council meeting but are not published due to minutes appearing on the internet. Mr. Kibler said that we need to obtain an invoice for the Scandura room hire in order to maintain his records.
6. Correspondence. Mr. Murray had received two letters of resignation in response to requests for subscriptions, these were from Peter Royal and R.S. Taylor who has been a member since 1987, his letter said he retired from engineering many years ago and no longer attends visits. We received a letter from Dean at Appris regarding our offer of a student award, his concern is that their term runs until July, we need to tell him that he could make his selections in March.
7. Membership. Mr. Stacey told us that Alan Braime moved house recently which is possibly the reason for the lack of response to Mr. Murray’s letters, we should contact him through work to get his new address. Mr. Aldersley has managed to get another new member, a Mr. Clive Randall, formerly the chief designer at Wharfedale Speaker Company. His application was seconded by Mr. Kibler and accepted by a show of hands of council members, subject to ratification at the next public meeting of the membership.
8. Current Programme. We have one blank space in the current programme (29th March), Mr. Murray has written to a company called Wendy Wool requesting that they give us either a talk or a factory visit that would be the basis for the ladies evening. Failing this Mr. Aldersley has a contact at Brighouse Model Engineering Club who he believes will give us a talk, but this would probably require us to find something else for the ladies evening.
9. Next Session. Graham Roper (one of our members) has a contact who is willing to give us a talk on anaesthesia.
10. Student Award Scheme. When we discussed making a student award, we felt we might enhance the value of the prize we are awarding by negotiating some form of discount for the recipients with Mitchell Fox (Engineering Tooling Supplies Company) who have had a long association with our society. However, our main contact, Gerry Allen, recently retired so we are unsure who we should approach. Mr. Toulson will contact Gerry Allen to seek any help he is able to offer.
11. Website. Mr. Toulson told us that he will soon be putting details of Keighley Association of Engineers dinner on our website in case any of our membership would like to attend. He said he contacted Dean at Appris offering to put a link from our website to theirs but as had no response. Mr. Toulson said that he feels someone else in the association should familiarise themselves with the procedures for updating the website in case he is unable to gain internet access when he is travelling.
12. Golf. Mr. Stacey told us that Mitchell Fox do not intend supporting the golf in the future, the people they brought in the past were their customers. Their intention is to replace the day at the golf tournament with a day at the horse racing. Mr. Stacey said he has spoken to Gerry Allen who previously made all the arrangements relating to the golf day within Mitchell Fox prior to his retirement. Gerry has offered to assist in any way he can in helping to ensure the tournament continues to thrive. Mr. Stacey is hopeful of getting a list of people who Mitchell Fox used to bring to the tournament and contact them in the hope that they are prepared to pay to attend the tournament on a personal basis. He thinks Gerry Allen might be willing to attend the tournament and greet the guests as he did in the past. Mr. Town (our Vice President) is going to approach the Managing Director at Thorite (his employer) to ask whether they might like to bring some of their customers to the tournament for a corporate day out, and whether they are able to offer any sponsorship. Mr. Toulson suggested asking the membership of Keighley Association of engineers if they wish to attend, Mr. Aldersley will contact them.
13. Annual Dinner. Mr.Kibler said it is too early to make any arrangements yet, but he needs a list of anyone who has done lectures or provided visits who we should be inviting. He said he will contact the Hull and Keighley Association of Engineers to invite their delegates after the Christmas holidays
Any other Business. Having no other business Mr. Aldersley closed the meeting.
