Photos from the 157th Anniversary Dinner…..

On the 9th April 2022 we held the 157th Anniversary Dinner at Headingley Golf Club. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak we had to cancel the dinners in 2020 and 2021 and so it was good to be able to hold the dinner this year and meet up with our friends. Let us hope that the worst of the pandemic is now behind us, although not completely gone away. We look forward to next year’s dinner which we will again plan for April.   Until then here below are some photographic memories of the 2022 dinner, courtesy of Ian Scholes and Andrew Kibler….

Dinner Secretary Andrew presided and introduced our president Ross Town who delivered a short speech welcoming the members and guests and thanking them for their support.

We have traditionally held a raffle for a worthy cause. This year we had a special guest, George Scholes, who is the grandson of council member Ian Scholes. George, a keen scout, is currently raising funds for a scout trip to South Korea in 2023. The scout movement has contributed and helped with charities over many years and so it was decided to offer young George the proceeds from tonight’s raffle. Ian brought George to each table to introduce him to the guests and he thanked them for their help in raising funds.

Andrew had previously introduced a new item to the proceedings… a table quiz with two sheets of pictures, being one of famous people and the other of places around the UK. Each table of guests, as a team, had to identify the pictures for a prize of chocolates. It certainly caused a buzz amongst the competitive guests and was a popular part of the evening !

As before, the meal and service were excellent… It is hoped we will be able to return to Headingley Golf Club for future events….

Here is a slide show from the evening……
