Hi, I’m Cameron Pinder, a new Council Member…..

I’m Cameron Pinder, a new member on the council.

After studying at college, I got a job as an Apprentice with Kirkstall Precision. I’ve spent time round the shop floor in various departments since starting out, mainly in CNC Milling / Turning and EDM.

Currently, I am working in CNC Milling, using 3+2 Doosan machines, mostly cutting stainless steel for medical devices.

My passion is manufacturing. There’s a certain spark in engineering, it’s something I see in this association from the talks, everyone shares this passion. It’s part of your life like it is mine, and I feel proud to be involved in an organisation which revolves around this, the same way I do.

This November, I’m due to compete in WorldSkills, in the UK National Competition for CNC Milling. Doing well in this competition leads to selection for the UK Team, representing this skill in Herning 2025 and Shanghai 2026, against international competitors.

This has been my goal since finding out about the competition around 2 years ago, and I believe this will play a significant role in what I plan to do in the future.

I know this is only the start for us young apprentices to make a difference, and I’m glad to be a part of the Leeds Association of Engineers.

Cameron Pinder – September 2024.
