Petanque in Heckmondwike – 20th June 2024
For many years we have arranged a social evening to coincide with the Summer Solstice. It has often taken the form of a short walk in a pleasant location to be followed by supper at a nearby hostelry.
In the past we have strolled around Farnley Park, Ogden Water, Temple Newsam, Newmillerdam and Shipley Glen to name but a few. It’s a chance to catch up with friends and acquaintances during the summer recess and have a bit of gentle exercise and a convivial supper.
For our social event this year Malcolm and Lynne Murray arranged an evening at a ‘Petanque‘ club in Heckmondwike. The games were a success and enjoyed by the players and spectators.
Malcolm reported on the results of the games:-
“Kath Blakeley won the ladies’ prize and Ross Town won the mens’ prize. But to be fair we had to draw them out of a bag as we had 2 ladies and 4 men on level terms. But Lynne played against them both and she said they both played well.”
Following the games the members and guests enjoyed a light supper at a local hostelry.
